Hello All! I'm Brad Andrew. I am Assistant Professor of Economics in the Department of Accounting, Business and Economics at Juniata College. Before coming to Juniata, I earned my M.A. and Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Connecticut, Storrs (GO HUSKIES!). I'm also a big fan of the Boston sports scene, although it would
have been nice if the New
England Patriots had won the Super Bowl during the 34 years that I
lived in New
England, not the one year when I didn't! Oh well, I guess you can't
have everything. What a great Super Bowl that was! I'm also a fan of the
One of my favorite pastimes is anything Scottish (if it's not Scottish, it's crap!). I regularly attend Celtic festivals, Highland Games and I love listening to Celtic music, whether it is traditional or Celtic rock. Neil Anderson, the Antipypr, does both better than anyone I've ever seen. Some of my other favorites are Seven Nations, Brother, Hadrian's Wall and the Glengarry Bhoys. If you want to listen to Celtic music online, go to Celtic Grove radio. I'm also interested in Scottish history, both real and imagined. I'm a member of the Clan Ross and the Clan MacRogue. The Clan MacRogue is a fictitious clan who occupies the disputed border between Scotland and Ireland. The leader of the clan is the 56th Laird of Baoghalta, the stuffed bunny that you see below. To learn more, go to the Clan MacRogue site. One of the important parts of a liberal education is exploring topics outside your field. In my case, I became interested in the "Great Books" of the world only after I had gotten into my 30s. There are several sites on the web where you can read the great books of the world online:
My dissertation focused both on British economic history and the history of economic thought. You can access the classics of economics at McMaster University's History of Economic Thought. Those who want to learn more about economic history can do so at EH.net. I married my fiancé Susan at the Viva Las Vegas Wedding Chapel on December 31, 2001. It was a great way to bring in the New Year! Susan and I met while we were both studying to be tutors for Literacy Volunteers of America. Our meeting was proof to me that helping others comes back to you in ways that you never imagined. You can see us in the picture at the top of the page. Susan and I just had our first child! You can also see our incredibly adorable son Cameron below. He was born May 25, 2005.
