Douglas Creer, assistant professor of biology, joined the Juniata faculty in 2005 after working as a postdoctoral research associate at Florida International University in Miami, Fla. from 2002 to 2005.
He earned a bachelor's degree in zoology in 1994 from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. he went on to earn a doctoral degree in evolutionary and population biology in 2001 from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.
He worked as a postdoctoral research associate at the Washington University School of Medicine from 2001 to 2002. He also served as a teaching assistant at Washington University in 1995 and 2000. He has taught courses on evolutionary biology, evolutionary ecology and molecular systematics.
He has published his research in such journals as the Journal of Herpetology, Evolution, Genetica, the Journal of Zoology, and Ethology.
His research focuses on genetics of various lizard species. He was a Predoctoral Fellow for the National Science Foundation from 1995 to 1998, and was named a National Merit Scholar, a Pennwalt Foundation Scholar and a Brigham Young University Trustees Scholar.
