Kathryn Westcott joined Juniata's faculty in 2003, sharing a full-time position as assistant professor of psychology with her husband, Mark McKellop, assistant professor of psychology. She earned a magna cum laude bachelor's degree in psychology from the Ohio State University in 1994. She went on to earn a master's degree in school psychology in 1998 and a doctorate in school psychology in 2001, both from the University of Cincinnati.

From 1999-2001, Kathy Westcott worked as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Cincinnati teaching courses in consultation, collaborative problem-solving, and intervention design. Also, she worked as a research assistant on a grant from the State of Ohio Department of Education to develop an intervention-based model of assessment for determining eligibility for special education service.

Currently, she holds certifications in school psychology from the Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana departments of education. Before starting her academic career, Kathy Westcott worked as a school psychologist serving children from preschool to high school for the Monroe County Community School Corporation in Bloomington, Ind. and for the Clermont County Educational Service Center in Batavia, Ohio. During this time, she also served as a practicum and intern supervisor for school psychology trainees through the University of Cincinnati and the University of Dayton. Dr. Westcott also worked as a consultant for Northern Kentucky Head Start delivering teacher and parent trainings and consulting with teachers and parents to remediate academic or behavioral issues of concern for preschoolers. She also worked in community mental health from 1994 to 1996 as a case manager integrating adults with chronic mental illness into the community.

She and her husband Mark have two wonderful children, Ethan and Carly, who provide them with endless hours of entertainment and joy.
