What's coming up NExT? |
The Spring 2009 workshop will be held on the afternoon of Friday, April 3, 2009, at the Allegheny Mountain Section Meeting at Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, West Virginia. We are very lucky to have Tom Hull of Western New England College presenting his "Origami Geometry Workshop."
Abstract:
We will explore some of the ways in which origami and math feed off
each other by getting our hands dirty with paper folding! In honor of
the MAA, we'll fold a modular icosahedron and witness a chance to
explore Johnson Solids. If time permits, we will also explore the
currently hot area of mathematical paper folding known as origami
tessellations.
Due to the "hands-on" nature of this workshop, we must limit the size of the group to 30 people and restrict participation to Section NExT Fellows.
Section NExT welcomes our old members as well as any new faculty members in the Section! For more information about Section NExT or the Spring Workshop, please contact John Bukowski (bukowski@juniata.edu) or Tami Lakins (tlakins@allegheny.edu).
We look forward to seeing you in April!
