Research Program
The goal of my research is to apply and extend molecular technology and population genetic theory to problems in organismal ecology and evolution. I am interested in studies of population structure, dispersal, recruitment, speciation, social structure, species identification, molecular evolution, and conservation biology. Many current molecular laboratory techniques (PCR, microsatellite analysis, DNA sequencing, restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis, molecular cloning) can be learned within a few months, and applied to a multitude of small, but important, projects. I am currently interested in functional molecular population genetics and genomics. I have been looking at interesting areas of the Sebastes genome for insight into adaptation and speciation processes.
