Hi!
My
name is Peter Goldstein, and here’s some stuff about me.
I
was born in 1955 in New York City; when I was four years old, my family
moved to California, and I was raised in the Los Angeles area.
I
graduated from Beverly Hills High School and my zip code was actually
90210 for a while—but trust me, it wasn’t like the TV show.
I
went to college at Harvard, where I spent most of my time at the college
radio station, was on academic probation for a semester, and somehow
managed to graduate with a degree in English and French Literature.
Having
no idea what to do next, I went to law school at the University of
Southern California and practiced law in LA for four years (it wasn’t
like L. A. Law, either).
I
never really enjoyed being a lawyer, and since I had saved up some money
from being grossly overpaid, I quit and spent a year in blissful
unemployment.
Finally
I figured out what I wanted to do, and in 1984 I entered graduate school
in English at UCLA. Seven years later I had my Ph.D., and I joined the
Juniata faculty in August of 1991. I
teach a bunch of things, including College Writing Seminar, Forms of
Literature, British Literature 1600-1800, Nineteenth Century British
Literature, Shakespearean Drama, Contemporary Poetry, Poetry Writing, and
Science Fiction.
I’m
married to the most wonderful woman in the world, and Louise and I share
our house with 4 dogs, 8 cats, 2 goats, innumerable mice and ladybugs, and
a teenager. I’m
a fanatical soccer fan and classical music buff, so any time you want to
talk about these subjects—or anything else for that matter—come on in.
