Favorite Web Sites

www.ebay.com – Well, you’ve probably heard of it already, but you have to experience it to realize how great it is. You can buy and sell just about anything, find incredible bargains, and discover just how much that old stuff you have is worth. I put an old book on auction, expecting to get around $30 for it, and it went for $125. I’ve also found unusual books and CDs for very low prices. And my wife got a spinning wheel! Get to this site and get going; once you master the procedure, it’s a thrill. |

www.half.com and
www.abebooks.com – These are my two favorite sites for used books. Half.com is eBay’s fixed price outlet, where people just like you and me offer their books at a certain price. It’s great for out-of-print stuff. Abebooks.com is a fabulous international used book clearinghouse: hundreds of dealers list their entire stock here. There’s a good search engine, and it seems that just about any book that’s ever been printed is available somewhere, some of them pretty cheaply. |

www.nytimes.com and
www.washingtonpost.com – I love reading newspapers, and with the Internet you can get them free! The Times and the Post are the two best national newspapers, but there are zillions of others, and
www.thepaperboy.com is the place to go for all the necessary links. They even have world newspapers, which are always fascinating. |

www.soccertv.com – Ok, I admit it. I’m a rabid soccer fan, and I’ve been one since 1966. This is an incredible site, which lists all the soccer that’s going to be on television, including regular network, cable, and satellite dish systems. Unbeatable. There are plenty of places to go for soccer news: my favorites include
www.SportServer.com (international newswire) and
www.football365.com (a newspaper/editorial site out of England—hard-hitting and irreverent). For real fanatics, there’s
www.rsssf.com, which is the international soccer statisticians site. |
