Important information:
Huntingdon Area School District does not support cross-country as a varsity sport. However, since cross-country is an individual, as well as a team sport, Huntingdon students can compete as independents. This means that with permission of the athletic director of the hosting schools, we can run in cross-country meets of other schools in the area. They will record individual results, but will not calculate a team score. At the district meet, individual places do count, and we can qualify for the state meet. An athlete must compete in 5 regular season scholastic events to be able to run at the District VI meet. As volunteer coach, I will arrange permission for some meets and invitationals through the fall, and set a time for group runs a few times a week. It is up to you to run mostly on you own!
Physicals
Girls will have theirs on July 30 at 8:45AM.
Boys will have theirs on July 31 at 11:00AM.
They will be in the nurse's office at the high school.
Athletes must bring pages 1-4 of the PIAA physical form; pages 1-3 must be completed and signed by a parenet/guardian. Forms are also available at the high school office.
Waiver
Althletes must have a parent/guardian sign a waiver form. This form should be turned in to the high school office.
Meet Transportation and Invitational Fees
The school district will not provide any vehicles or money for transportation or entry fees. An approved coach or parent/guardian must drive the athletes to meets; students are not permitted to drive themselves. If more than four athletes wish to attend a given meet, parents will need to provide transportation. Preferrence for provided transport will be given based on number of practices attended.
Practices-beginning Sept. 2nd.
Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 3:30 PM. Meet in the back stairwell (off 17th street) of the vonLeibig Science Center on the Juniata Campus.
