When assigning the “attendance, participation, professionalism” grade, an initial grade of 80%, is adjusted up or down based on consideration of the questions below. These questions are derived from the course syllabus and the course guidelines.
(a) Have you attended all / almost all / most / some / not many class sessions?
(b) If you missed class(es), did you inform the instructor and take responsibility for the material you missed?
(c) Did you ever oversleep for an exam?
(d) During lecture, did you occasionally share feedback or participate in discussion?
(e) During lecture, were you logged in never / a few times / occasionally / frequently ?
(f) Were you ever asked to log out by the instructor?
(g) Did your interactions with the instructor, during lecture, lab time and via email, promote an atmosphere of mutual respect?
(h) During lab time, did you make a serious attempt to answer questions prior to asking for help?
(i) If you worked with a partner, did you contribute equal amounts of effort to the partnership?
(j) Have you turned in all the assignments? Did you consistently follow the directions and procedures for handing in assignments? Did you meet the deadlines? Did you make a serious effort to complete your assignments, and did you start working on them ahead of time? Did you upload the “wrong version” of your assignment and then ask to email the “correct version?”
(k) One or two requests for special accommodations are understandable. But did you have a consistent pattern of requests for accommodations?
(l) Was there ever any question of academic integrity associated with your work ?
