Professor Lewis came to Juniata in 1970 from Villanova University with an A.B. from Wilson College and an M.A. from Bryn Mawr College. She has published two in-house publications, "Theories of Ethics" and "Logic and Language" to complement her teaching.
She has special interest in issues that have particular relevance to women: date rape, spouse abuse & women, child care & careers. In addition, she serves as the "philosopher in residence" on the joint College-J.C. Blair Hospital medical ethics committee and on several campus committees. She was awarded the Sears-Roebuck Foundation Teaching Excellence and Campus Leadership Award in 1991.
Off campus, professor Lewis is a nationally
known dog trainer and expert on the effects of positive reinforcement
on animal behavior. She writes a monthly training column for
the national publication Front & Finish.
