City Tour of Dakar

Visit local artists

Senegal History Museum

Lunch in Dakar

Free time in local market

DAY 4

Breakfast & lecture at Tahiti Hotel

Ferry ride to Goree Island

Tour through Goree Island colonial slave quarters and museum

Lunch at ferry harbor

Return to Tahiti Hotel, prepare for departure

Travel to Pink Lake, Senegal → arrive at Chez Salim Hotel

Tour of Pink Lake and relaxation at beach

Visit with local village chief

Dinner at Chez Salim

 

DAY 5

Visit Bandari Safari Nature Reserve

Ferry ride to Banjul, The Gambia

Arrival at Leybato Hotel in Fajara, The Gambia

Relaxation at the beach and free time

Visit Serrkunda Market and Batik Fabric Market

City tour of Serrekunda area

Visit University of The Gambia (UTG) → Meet with Dr. Boro Suso, Dean of Social Sciences

Lecture, Gambian history, with Dr. Juso

Free time with university students

Lunch at Alliance Franco-Gambienne

Visit Banjul market

Return to Leybato Hotel, prepare for departure

Arrival at house in Kanifing, The Gambia

DAY 9

History and politics of The Gambia lecture at UTG with Dr. Juso

Meet with University of The Gambia student union

Lunch at Westfield

Visit US embassy consular & security officers

Visit Gambia Peace Corps headquarters, meeting with the country program director

African Art Exhibit at Alliance Franco-Gambienne

Banjul to visit President’s commemorative arch

Lunch at Ali Baba’s in Banjul

Travel to Kanilai for President Jammeh’s annual cultural festival with UTG students

Dinner at Sindola Safari Camp, Kanilai (owned by pres. Jammeh)

 

DAY 11

Breakfast & lecture at house

Visit the Gambia National Assembly → meet with clerk of the national assembly, tour library and archives

Free time in Banjul

Lunch at house, prepare for departure

Travel to Kanilai for president’s cultural festival with UTG students → meet president Jammeh

Dinner at Sindola Safari Camp

Travel to Tendaba Camp, Kwinella

 

DAY 12

Breakfast & lecture at Tendaba Camp

Rest and free time

Boat tour of The Gambia River area
