Peace Studies-From Ahimsa to Zindabad

Ahimsa is Hindi for peace or non-injury. It is the concept that Gandhi used to help catalyze the nonviolence resistance wing of the Indian independence movement. Zindabad is the Hindi word for victory. This course will provide Juniata students with an opportunity to explore the theories and practices of peace work in a context rich with historical significance for the field. In addition to learning about Gandhi and social change students will have the opportunity to see in practice a number of conflict resolution and peace building practices.
