Wildlife of the Western Ghats

Course Dates: May 17 - June 17 2008

 

This course examines the diverse wildlife of the Western Ghats in south India. Topics covered will inlcude ecosystems ecology, threats to wildlife and other issues, reforestation, coastal habitats (sand dunes, mangroves, wetlands), rainforests, vegation, behavior, mammals, birds, fish, and herps. There will be time spent in rainforests, zoos, wetlands, and the famous Croc Bank.

This course will mainly be taught by Srini and Sunita who work for FERAL and there will also be other guest lecturers including Rauf Ali, Gopi, Partha, and Ranjit Daniels.

The cost of this trip is $1900 (+ airfare) because of staying on reserves.
