Dr. Dennis Plane maintains an active role at Juniata College.  In his role as Assistant Professor of American Politics, he stresses civic engagement, including the importance of voting and being informed about political issues.  Dr. Plane enjoys working closely with his peers both inside and outside Juniata on his research, which focuses on the intersection of public opinion and political institutions.  Through his research, Dr. Plane examines political trust, including how trust is influenced by evaluations of congress.  Dr. Plane is also an advocate for simplifying the voter registration process.

Dr. Plane has served as the internship coordinator for the Politics Department and encourages students to participate in these excellent opportunities.  Dr. Plane works closely with The Washington Center in Washington, D.C., and serves on their Federal Govenment Advisory Committee. In addition, Dr. Plane has sponsored internships in Huntingdon, Harrisburg, and other locations around the country. These internships give students the opportunity to gain practical, hands-on experience in the political arena.

Dr. Plane earned his Bachelor's degree in politics from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. He received his Doctoral degree in American Government from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas. He maintains an active research agenda in American polictics and is an active member of the community.
