Dr. Reingold received an A.B. from Dartmouth College, a Ph.D. from the University of Oregon, and has additional research experience at the University of Alberta, the University of Chicago, Dartmouth College, and the University of Zurich. He previously taught at Haverford College, Middlebury College, Lewis and Clark College, and has been at Juniata since 1988.
He was awarded Juniata's Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching in 1992. He has also received the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Scholar/Fellow Award (1995-7)
Dr. Reingold is a member of the American Chemical Society. He served as secretary of the Green Mountain Section (1985-86) and on the Executive Committee for the Central Pennsylvania Section. He is a proposal reviewer for the National Science Foundation and the Petroleum Research Fund and article reviewer for the Journal of Organic Chemistry. He has been a councilor on the Council on Undergraduate Research for several years, has served as chair of the chemistry division for two years, was chair of the finance committee for three years, and was CUR's Volunteer of the Year for 2001.
Dr. Reingold has received over $1.3 million from private and federal funding agencies to support his research and other projects. Sources include the National Science Foundation, the Petroleum Research Fund, the Research Corporation, American Cyanamid Corporation, and the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation. He has supported more than 70 undergraduate students in his labs, many of whom have been coauthors on his papers.
Dr. Reingold is the author of a textbook, Organic Chemistry: An Introduction Emphasizing Biological Connections, published in 2001 by Houghton Mifflin and now available from IA Books.
