TIM REU Site:
Dr. Reingold is part of a group of six faculty at far-flung
institutions doing research on the synthesis of Theoretically Interesting
Molecules. We call ourselves the TIM
Consortium, and we have funding from the National Science Foundation to
operate as an REU Site. Each of us will hire two students for the summer,
doing research on our separate projects. On three occasions during the
summer, we will meet with each other to discuss our mutual interests. One
of these meetings will take place during a national chemistry meeting, either
the Reaction Mechanisms Conference or the National Organic Symposium, and the
other two will be on one of our campuses. Students will spend 11 weeks on
the project, 10 doing research and one at the national meeting. This
summer (2003) research will start May 19 and end August 1. Interested students should see the TIM website for an application form,
and send it to me.
