If you work with a partner, please do so for ALL portions of the assignment, and make sure both your names are in the file.

For the answers which you are asked to type below, please create one MS Word document, which has the name:
ma103Assignment02YOURNAME. Saving in MS Word should automatically give this file the proper extension of .doc or .docx. You should upload this file in Moodle prior to the deadline. Clearly label which Activity and problem you are answering. It might be helpful to put in a "Page Break" between the answers for Activities, where appropriate.

Anywhere below, when you are asked to paste a graph created in Excel into your Word document, you may simply paste the graph. You do NOT need to import the entire worksheet associated with it.

A. Activity 1.3 The specific questions for Activity 1.3 are on pg. 396 - 402 in your textbook, where you can find directions for using Excel 2003. If you are using Excel 2007, you can find directions on how to use it for Activity 1.3 at the link Excel 2007 Instructions for Activity 1.3

Type your answers for #1 thru #5.
Hand-write the table, and then create the associated histogram for #6.
Type your answer for #7.
For #8, follow the directions in your text or in the link above, to create a histogram by processing the data "manually" first, using EA1.3.1 SAT data.xls, and paste this graph into your Word document.
Type your answer to #9 In addition to the question asked, answer the following: Why do certain states have a significantly lower percentage of students taking the SAT? Hint: it has nothing to do with the quality of the students from those states..
For #10, follow the directions in the text to create two histograms directly from "raw" data, using EA1.3.2 Super Bowl.xls,, and paste these graphs into your Word document. One of these histograms will use bins determined by Excel (steps a-d in the directions linked above), and the other will use bins you enter (steps e-f in the directions linked above).
