For the answers which you are asked to type below, please create one MS Word document, which has the name:
ma103Assignment08YOURNAME. Saving in MS Word should automatically give this file the proper extension of .doc or .docx. You should upload this file in Moodle prior to the deadline. Clearly label which Activity and problem you are answering. It might be helpful to put in a "Page Break" between the answers for Activities, where appropriate.

Anywhere below, when you are asked to paste a graph created in Excel into your Word document, you may simply paste the graph. You do NOT need to import the entire worksheet associated with it.

A. Read Topic 8 in the textbook, and work the assigned Exploration problems as listed for each day on the course web-site. You do NOT need to turn in the Exploration problems, but they are useful in preparing for the written exam.

B. Activity 8.1 The specific questions for Activity 8.1 are on pg. 472 - 479 in your textbook, where you can also find directions for using Excel.

Type your answers for the different portions of #1 and #2.
For #3, follow the directions to set up the spreadsheet, and then paste the spreadsheet into your Word document.
Type your answer for #4.
For #5 and #6, follow the directions to add the two new columns to your spreadsheet, and then paste it into your Word document.
Type your answer for #7.
For #8, follow the directions to add an additional column to your spreadsheet for calculating the Fog Index, and then paste it into your Word document.
Type your answer for #9.
For #10, modify your spreadsheet so you can answer the two questions, and type these answers into your Word Document.

D. Activity 8.2 The specific questions for Activity 8.1 are on pg. 480 - 486 in your textbook, where you can find directions for using Excel 2003. If you are using Excel 2007, you can find directions on how to use it for Activity 8.2 at the link Excel 2007 Instructions for Activity 8.2

Use the data EA8.2 Median Salaries and CPI.xls, and follow the directions to create the scatterplot for #2. Paste this scatterplot into your Word document.
Type your answer for #3.
Follow the directions in #4.
Follow the directions for #5 and type your answers.
For #6, follow the directions to augment your spreadsheet.
Perform the requested calculations for #7, and paste this spreadsheet into your Word document.
For #8, follow the Excel directions to create the scatterplot, and paste this graph into your Word document. Type your explanation also.
