Currently, Professor Tuten teaches four History courses,
an Interdisciplinary Colloquia titled "Shaping Of The American Mind", and a section of College Writing Seminar for freshmen. He serves as a student advisor
and shares faculty advisor duties for the Omicron Delta Kappa (Student Leadership) and the Phi Alpha Theta (History Honors) chapters at Juniata. He is founder and moderator of H-SC, an H-Net discussion list on South Carolina History and Culture. He chairs the Student Research and Fellowship Committee (SRFC) which fosters student research and guides cadidiates through the fellowship application process at Juniata. He is also on the acquisitions editor for Juniata Voices.
In addition, professor Tuten has a research agenda that includes completing a manuscript on rice culture in South Carlolina. He recently published several pieces on madiera wine in the South and is looking toward an upcoming projects on screwworms in southern agriculture and hunting in the South.
